In efforts to keep the UWC-USA campus informed about what technology is available to them and how to use it, we have compiled the following catalog of IT services. This catalog is not only for new students and employees, as it is intended to also familiarize existing community members with services they may not be aware of.

Assist any user in accessing school resources, such as wireless, email, network folders, etc.

Personal computer repair (within a reasonable effort)

Lend computer equipment and projectors to employees
- Student ran events must have a sponsoring adult borrow equipment
- Speakers, microphones and dongles must be returned when borrowed
- Laptops and projectors are limited and may not be available at all times.

IT Resources

Wireless Internet Service – Wireless Internet is available campus wide and can be connected to using your school username and password (for more info see Username and Password below). Students should connect using the Student network and employees should connect using the Employee network.

Additionally, Guest and Residential wireless networks are used for just that and are only available in designated areas. Visitors using the Guest wireless can get the password from security or the IT department.

Note: iPhones and iPads use the UWC network and will need be connected manually by the IT department.

Google Apps for Education – This is the service the school uses for all email accounts. To access your email simply open a web browser and go to Google.com where you will be able to log in using your school email address and password (for more info see Username and Password below).

Google Apps for Education includes additional functions as well, including Calendar, Hangouts, Keep, Groups and Drive. All of which are connected to your school email account.

Calendar: Used for keeping track of meetings and events and can display shared calendars as well.

Hangouts: Used for messaging and video chat.

Keep: Used for making short notes.

Groups: Used for emailing organizational groups. Clicking on “My groups” will display groups you’re a member of.

Drive: Used to create, store and share document school wide. Drive has no storage limit and can be accessed on any device whether you’re on or off campus.

Campus Page – This is an internal website used to link users to additional services and information. Such as, school Google calendars, phone directories, Edsby, Library system, dining hall menu, campus map, Ureserve, student and employee directories and ServiceDesk work order system. To access this page users must be on campus or connected to the network via VPN (for more info see OpenVPN below). Web address is http://home/

UWC-USA website – This is the public website for the school. This site’s content is managed by the Advancement office and can be accessed at http://www.uwc-usa.org

OpenVPN – This service is used to connect to the network when not on campus. This allows users to access network resources, (such as printers and network folders) via an off-site Internet connection. Instruction on installing and using this service can be found at https://info.uwc-usa.org

Emergency Alert System – This is an alert system used by the school to deliver text messages to registered cell phone numbers in the event of an emergency such as, fire, dangerous animal on campus, gas leak, etc. To receive emergency alerts from this system, please enroll at https://info.uwc-usa.org

Ureserve – This is the system used by the school to schedule the use of venues and guestrooms. This system is hosted and managed by the IT department. However, all transportation needs should be coordinated through SchoolDude's MaintenanceDirect

Service Desk – This is the work order system used by the school to handle all facilities and IT related work orders. To submit a work order you must login using a valid username and password (for more info see Username and Password below) and all work orders will be addressed when the time and/or resources to complete the job are available. Service Desk can be accessed at http://support.uwc-usa.org

MaintenanceDirect – This is the system used by the school to handle facilities work orders and all school related transportation needs. SchoolDude's MaintenanceDirect is used for facilities work orders and vehicle scheduling. The MaintenanceDirect system can be accessed here If assistance with trip scheduling is needed, please contact the transportation coordinator at 454-4287.

Edsby – This system is used by students, faculty and other academic departments, to manage student records and course information. Students can check grades and contact faculty using Edsby and faculty can view student’s information and contact classes by group. Logging into this system can be done with an Edsby username and password or by using a valid UWC-USA “Google sign in”. For assistance with Edsby please contact the registrar’s office.

Username and Password

Listed below are the credentials all students or employees will need to access campus resources.

Username: This is the user account assigned by the IT department allowing individuals to login to school computers, connect to school wireless networks and access many other secure systems.
Example: student username looks similar to “aw17sala”
Example: employee username looks similar to “salarid”

Email address: Also referred to as a “Google sign in” is the account address for school Google accounts ending with @uwc-usa.org.
Example: john.doe@uwc-usa.org

Password: Both user account and email accounts use the same password during login and should be reset after first getting your accounts setup. This password can be reset from any school computer or in person by stopping by the IT department. By resetting your user account password, your Google password will be reset as well. Do not reset your password in Google as this will not change your user account password.

Q: How do I connect to the wireless?
A: Scan for wireless networks on you device and select the desired network. When prompted enter your UWC-USA username (not email address) and password. For detailed instruction please visit: https://info.uwc-usa.org/WirelessSetup.html

Q: How do I access my UWC-USA email?
A: To access school email simply open a web browser and go to Google.com to login using your email address (ie: firstname.lastname@uwc-usa.org) and account password assigned by the IT department. School email can also be accessed on mobile devices by adding a new Gmail account to your favorite email app. For questions about what your email address or password is set to, please contact the IT department.

Q: Where do I get a key card from?
A:All employees and students will be issued a card at the IT office. This card will function as their photo ID as well as their keycard for accessing all buildings on campus. All Students will have their cards issued during orientation. All new employees will get a card issued on their start date. Q: What do I do if I break or loose my ID?
A: In the event that a card is lost, damaged or stolen, they will need to come by the IT office as soon as possible to get a replacement card printed. If the IT office is not open for any reason, a guest card can be issued by security until the IT office reopens. Q: How do I access wireless and setup email on my cell phone?
A: Wireless can be accessed on mobile devices in the same manner as other mobile devices (For detailed instruction please visit: https://info.uwc-usa.org/WirelessSetup.html). However, some iPhones may need additional configuring in order to connect properly. In which case you should contact IT for assistance. School email can be accessed on mobile devices by adding a new Gmail account to your favorite email app using your email address (ie: firstname.lastname@uwc-usa.org) and account password assigned by the IT department. For questions about what your email address or password is set to, please contact the IT department.

Q: How do I print?
A: Printers can be add to personal laptops and mobile devices by using the IP address listed on the printer. Documents can also be sent to printers located in the tech lab and dorm computer rooms, by emailing it as an attachment to the email address printed on the printer. Additionally, all school computers should have nearby printers setup for printing. For assistance with printing issues, contact the IT department.

Q: What is my username and where is it used?
A: Your username is assigned by the IT department and allows you to login to school computers, connect to school wireless networks and access many other secure systems. Student’s username begins with “aw”, followed by the year they started at UWC-USA, the first letter of your first name and ending with the first three letters of your first last name.
Example: student username looks similar to “aw17sala”

Employee usernames begin with the first letter of your first name followed by your last name.
Example: employee username looks similar to “salarid”

Q: What is my email address and password?
A: Your school email address (also used as your “Google sign in” where needed) is your first first name, dot (.), first last name, followed by @uwc-usa.org.
Example: shaun.alarid@uwc-usa.org
